Match Report:

It was a fine, although breezy day which greeted the Old Dogs who were hosting Fitzroy at home. Numbers were short and the Old Dogs started with 14 players on the ground, including debutante Matt McPherson. Chops, Macca, and a couple of others joined the fray soon after, including another debutante, a bloke called Horsell.
Unlike the Old Dogs usual start, they were into attack early but were spraying them wide until Glacks kicked truly after missing with his previous attempt. Young Chook was getting plenty of the ball and continuously put the Dogs into attack. The dogs went into the quarter time break with a handy lead after Arron Hure and Nathan Hoare booted a couple of Supergoals.
The second quarter was about to get underway when it was realised the Old Dogs had an extra player on the field. In a rare moment during his illustrious career, Horse was given his marching orders and moped off in the slowest walk to the bench ever seen at an Old Dogs game. The Old Dogs continued their dominance over the hapless Lions in the second quarter. Our half back line were looking to get in on the scoring action but they too, couldn't get the ball off the "Hungry" Hure as he looked to extend his lead at the top of the ErectoMax Straight Shooter Goalkicking table. However, he was sent to the backline as punishment for forgetting how to handball. sMiles got into the action kicking a couple of fine snaps for goals as the dogs completely dominated this quarter. Nothing could get past McPherson and Campbell in the backline as the rebounded everything that came near them.
The third quarter featured Horse having a leisurely stroll down the middle of the ground with about 8 bounces. The domination continued as Frank asserted his control over the game to ensure the Old Dogs were to run out winners. Colin Johnson kicked a miraculous floating mongrel punt for goal from the boundary and followed up with the best celebration seen after goal since Dale Thomas  last kicked a goal.
The final quarter saw the Old Dogs kicking towards the club house end and the backline now playing as the forward line. The home crowd was starting to get a lot more vocal, offering plenty of "encouragement" to the home side. The Old Dogs didn't let them down and slammed on a few more goals to send them into a frenzy. The Old Dogs future looks bright with young'uns McPherson, Hoare and Chook all featuring in the best players and young Horsell also contributing well.
