Match Report:
This was a game where we could have set our season back on track with a win. In the end, in the second half, Hectorville established many winners and ran out comfortably. We couldn't control their scoring forward in Jacob Olsen. He slotted 8 and was the difference. Again we could not establish a power point winner at full forward. For the first half Adam Rumbelow was at full forward and while he gave a running lead it was left to Brad Horsell and Josh Vines, when resting in the forward pocket, to be the scoring option, with Rumbles restricted to a single.
We were still right in the game at the long break. Inaccurate kicking by the opposition versus our accurate kicking kept us in it. We were two points down and looked to be comfortably placed for a run home on our home ground.
The third quarter had Hectorville peppering their goals. Again they were inaccurate. 4.9 for the quarter still had us in it at three quarter time.
The final quarter and we did challenge for a few minutes but then the Hounds steadied and while we kicked 1.3 they kicked 3.2 to run out comfortable winners.
Best:
1. Josh Vines had a good game. Dangerous around the goals and in the ground play kept us in the game. 2. Shawn Anderson has been down at full forward - but responded in the best way with a very good display in ruck - won a lot of taps and tried hard to fire us all game. 3. Brad Horsell was perhaps our next best in the centre and looked dangerous when leading from the forward pocket. 4. Adam Rumbelow competed all day. Drifted around the ground and had many possessions in the second half. 5. Josh Searle continues to run and rack up possessions.
