Match Report:
Another outing and a substantial loss. However the team looked good and did have some creative passages. A good opponent and we were caught short, but with several players to return, the team will be competitive, however a bit late for season 2010.
We opened well and looked good for the first half of the first quarter. Then Blackfriars OS got into gear and put on many scoring shots. Charlie van Dam brought up our first with a good sharking effort around the goals.
Our second quarter was a defensive one. We were into what breeze there was and held Blackfriars OS to 2.3. This was a very good effort. Highlight of the quarter was the "purple patch" Ashley Anspach had. Every where he went the ball followed and every play he made came off. The downside of the quarter was the fact we didn't score.
The third quarter and we attacked for a couple. Blackfriars OS responded and outscored us. It was a reasonable quarter but scoring continued to elude.
The final quarter and we had some good and bad. We let them in too often, but we did score ourselves and did not give up.
Best: 1. Kym Rasheed ran all day, many possessions, and gave his all. 2. Grant Hure rucked tirelessly, made the tackle, and dominated in the air. 3. Jessie Kavanagh ran and created, and will get better as the team work settles. 4. Peter Tozer presented in the forwards - a big effort. 5. Rhett Quinlivan has the skills and plays well each week.
Others to do well included Mat Kooyman, Shane Hollitt, Ashley Anspach, Chris Forster and Charlie van Dam.
