Match Report:
A glance at the score and the score tells the game summation. Lutheran were far too strong. We did start well. For the first 10 minutes we were into attack and looked the better side. While we were in attack we could not score. We had it near the goals, but could not convert. Then Lutheran dropped into gear and away they went. With taller, faster, and a much better team effort, Lutheran displayed all the attributes that has them sitting at the top of the table with only one blotch on their copybook for the season. We were undermanned. Some of our better players on our winning game against Smithfield did not show. This was disappointing and caused difficulties in team structure. However even with our best team we would not have won against the Lutheran side. Our only scoring quarter was the third. We had the wind and scored 1.2. Steve Sinclair was the player to slot the goal. Congratulations to the players who put their hands up and did not give up throughout the game. We were well represented with determination to defend but were eclipsed by a very good side.
Best: 1. Luke Kooyman in ruck and defence stood out with a very committed attack on the ball. A very good game but swamped by the opposition. 2. Grant Hure gave us first use in ruck. Good around the ground in the air. 3. Shane Hollitt with another class display in the centre, got us into attack but he too was swamped. 4. Mark Baryczka was active and aggressive around the ground. 5. Mat Kooyman as always, attacking the ball and defending as if his life depended on it!
