Match Report:

We lost the toss. Kicked into a slight breeze, on a wet and sloppy Argana Oval surface.  Very water logged and slosh under foot.  Something the players don't see at home and haven't seen this year.  We got bogged!

The game opened and Elizabeth attacked as on a dry day.  They bulldozed their way through centre and with winners in almost all positions, really gave us a lesson on desperate football.  We did challenge a little in the second quarter, and got to within a couple of goals, then Elizabeth got their minds back on the job and really took the game from there.  After about the half way mark of the second quarter we were never in it.  Elizabeth dominated the centre, ran around the flanks, and generally outclassed us.  It was a disappointing result after our run to get to the position of playing off in the First Semi Final.  Perhaps that was part of the problem.  Having been "up" for so many weeks in a row, when the "downer" came it came with a thump.

In the end, and at the beginning, we were thoroughly outclassed by a team which wanted the ball much more than we did!

Best:  1.  Shaun Jacobsen again stood out like a beacon - much like the Bell Rock Lighthouse - standing firm and repelling all.  Shining out for all to see.  He was our best player by that far that it didn't matter.  His high marking and ball skills on the ground shut out the direct route to goal for the second week in a row!

2.  Shane Smith at full back kept his man to two goals.  Given we were beaten by 80 points one would have thought the full forward may have contributed something.  "Ski-Dog" blanketed him in a very good display.  3.  Cohen Mattner at the other end slotted 4 goals.  Very limited opportunities and provided a target.  Like the first two he won his position.  4.  Tyson Jacquier didn't give up all game and showed the desperation that was needed.  Broke even with his opponent (who had the advantage of many team mates on top).  A good job!  5.  "Aussie" Armsden like TJ didn't give up.  But he too was swamped by the opposition being on top basically everywhere.  Others for a mention included James O'Loughlin called on to ruck when Dav Baumann had his nose broken tried valiantly.  Perhaps the other to have a mention is Rookie - Shane Hollitt off the bench had some moments.
